1) Mana Maoli Volumes IV and V - We have a musical adventure in store for you, featuring the voices and instruments of over 200 top local musicians and charter school youth, who have joined forces on this inspiring and massive compilation of ‘Maoli Music’. Set for release on Valentine’s Day, “This is Maoli Music” (Volume IV) and “Hui Na Moku” (Volume V) features 37 tracks of previously unreleased original or traditional music, and an awesome John Cruz-Jack Johnson music video. Each track is a collaboration of 2 or more vocalists, with pro artists teaming up with the youth, or each other. Examples include:

Ernie Cruz, Jr, Natural Vibrations, Paula Fuga, Damon Williams and Sashamon recording with charter school youth.

John Cruz collaborating with Jack JohnsonAnuhea w/ King Kekai, Rebel Souljahz w/ Maoli, Liko Martin w/ Kelea, Kimie w/ Irie Love,

On Volume IV you will find mostly island and roots reggae, hip hop, dancehall, ska, RnB, electro pop, and fusions thereof.

On Volume V you will find mostly traditional and contemporary Hawaiian, acoustic, and oli.

The 24 page color booklet features artwork by Solomon Enos, messages from the artists, lyric excerpts, photos, and brief bios on the schools and artists.

This limited edition double CD will first only be available at a charter school near you, or at manamaoli.org.

In the month of March, it will be available in stores (Long’s, Best Buy, Barnes&Noble, Target, Walmart), but not on I-tunes.

2) Mana Maoli’s CD release concert – The Hawaii Unite Music Festival – Sat Feb 18th @ Kaka’ako Amphitheatre 3pm

These all-star bands include players from Ooklah the Moc, Natural Vibes, DubKonscious, Kupa’aina, Lopaka Colon and more.

Please also let any ohana and friends on Maui know, we are also doing a show on Maui at the MACC, Sun Feb 19th.

See hawaiiunite.com for details.

3) Seeking Volunteers for the concert

This concert is a big production and we had many positions

to fill for the show. We still have about 8 slots to fill. If you would like to support the cause and get a free ticket, please email manamaoli@yahoo.com asap, and we will provide details. You would be asked to help either during the 1st or 2nd half of the show.

4) Engineering and music industry mentorships

Between March and May, we will be scheduling mentorship opportunities for youth, particularly in music engineering, and the ‘industry’ side of music – where students can learn communication, PR, business, marketing and other skills via mentorships with successful, role model music managers and promoters. Engineering mentorships will occur at music studios in Kane’ohe and Honolulu. Hawaii and Kaua’i island studios are also possibilities if there is ample

interest. Music industry mentorships will occur at charter schools where there is ample interest (O’ahu, Hawai’i and Kaua’i islands). If interested, please email manamaoli@yahoo.com and leave makua (parent/guardian) and haumana (student) names, phone number(s), and whether you are interested in engineering mentorships, music industry, or both.
