Come join us for this sunset lu’au celebrating pa’i'ai and its versatile uses in contemporary Island cuisine.
Five of O’ahu’s culinary all-stars—Daniel Anthony, Ed Kenney, Andrew Le, Bob McGee, Mark “Gooch” Noguchi plus special guest chef Lee Anne Wong—are teaming up for a one night only pop up luau to celebrate the ancient Hawaiian staple paʻiʻai (hand-pounded poi). The menu will feature whole roasted pig and a variety of dishes showcasing the many ways in which paʻiʻaican be used. There will be live music, wine, and refreshments.
Proceeds will benefit Hui Aloha ‘Aina Momona, a 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to restoring and promoting practices based on kalo culture. It’s “board and stone in every family” philosophy includes: the acquisition and protection of land and water resources for lo’i (taro patches), the creation of a new workforce to cultivate kalo and produce paʻiʻai and other kalo products, public outreach in schools and communities, and forming an umbrella for the kalo pounding or “ku’i” clubs throughout the Islands.
