Governor Abercrombie to Sign Bill Relating to Public Trust Lands
Honolulu – Governor Neil Abercrombie will enact Senate Bill 2783, a measure that conveys Kaka’ako Makai lands to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) next week Wednesday. The bill signing ceremony will take place at Washington Place, the home of Hawai’i’s last reigning monarch Queen Liliu’okalani.

When: Wednesday, April 11, 2012; 10:30 – 11:00 am
Where: Washington PlaceOHA trustees, congressional delegates, state legislators, and other stakeholders will be participating in this historic bill signing event.
SB 2783 settles OHA’s claims to income and proceeds from ceded lands dating back to 1978. These claims are resolved by transferring land in Kaka’ako Makai to OHA.
The bill signing ceremony will be live streamed from the Governor’s website, hawaii.gov/gov.
